Which weight bench is right for you

Buying for a home gym

One adjustable bench does most of the work. The semi-commercial workout bench at KSh 29,000 and the utility bench at KSh 30,000 both move from flat to incline, which covers flat presses, incline presses, seated shoulder work, rows and step-ups. Paired with dumbbells, that is a complete upper body.

Buy an Olympic bench instead if you own a barbell and have no rack. The Olympic flat, incline and decline benches at KSh 80,000 each carry their own uprights, so you can unrack a loaded bar without a spotter and without buying a separate stand. If you only have room for one, the adjustable Olympic bench at KSh 125,000 replaces all three.

Buying for a commercial gym, hotel or school

A commercial floor is usually specified as a set: two or three adjustable benches, a flat bench per pressing station, and then the specialist pieces that members ask for by name. The Life Fitness adjustable bench at KSh 75,000 is what we supply most often to hotels, because the frame and upholstery take daily use from guests of every size.

The specialist benches earn their place differently. A preacher curl bench at KSh 45,000, a hyper extension or Roman chair at KSh 60,000, a hip thrust bench at KSh 160,000 and a T-bar lying row at KSh 105,000 each cover a movement that cannot be done properly on a flat bench. Schools and estate gyms tend to take the Roman chair first, because lower-back work needs no loading and no supervision.

Buying a weight bench from Alpha Fitness

We are gym equipment suppliers in Thindigua, Nairobi, and these eighteen benches are on the showroom floor rather than in a catalogue. Sit on the adjustable ones before you choose — pad width and the gap between the seat and the back pad decide whether a bench is comfortable, and neither shows in a photograph.

We deliver to all 47 counties and install commercial benches ourselves. We also service and repair what we sell, which on benches means re-upholstery and pivot repairs rather than replacement.

Common questions about weight benches in Kenya

How much does a weight bench cost in Kenya?

A weight bench costs between KSh 29,000 and KSh 275,000 in Kenya. Adjustable benches run from KSh 29,000 to KSh 75,000, Olympic benches with their own bar rack are KSh 80,000 to KSh 125,000, and specialist benches for a single movement range from KSh 30,000 to KSh 275,000.

What is the difference between a flat bench and an Olympic bench?

An Olympic bench has built-in uprights that hold a loaded barbell, and a flat bench does not. That makes the Olympic bench a complete pressing station you can use alone, while a flat bench needs either dumbbells or a separate rack to be useful for pressing.

Do I need an adjustable bench or a flat one?

An adjustable bench is the better single purchase for almost everyone, because incline and seated positions open up shoulder presses, incline presses and supported rows that a flat bench cannot do. A fixed flat bench is stiffer and cheaper per unit, which is why commercial floors buy several of them alongside two or three adjustable ones.

What weight can these benches hold?

Commercial and Olympic benches are built for the combined weight of a heavy lifter and a loaded bar, and the specific rating differs by model. Tell us the heaviest load you expect and we will confirm the rating for that bench before you order rather than after.

Do you deliver and install benches outside Nairobi?

Yes, to all 47 counties. Commercial benches are delivered and set in place by our own team; lighter adjustable benches go by courier with the cost confirmed before you pay.
